"We had an amazing Segway experience in Retiro Park with Andrie! He explained everything clearly, made sure we felt comfortable riding, and shared interesting facts about the park and Madrid along the way. His positive energy and great attitude made the experience even better. We highly recommend Andrie to anyone looking for a fun and memorable way to explore Retiro Park. Thank you for a fantastic time!"

How a Private Segway Tour Runs
Fewer fixed rules than a shared departure, and more of them negotiable.
Pick a Slot, Not a Departure
Private operators run hourly windows rather than fixed group times — from 10:00 to 20:00 on the Retiro and centre routes.
Train Until You Are Ready
On a shared tour the briefing ends when the group is ready. On a private one it ends when you are, which is the single biggest reason nervous riders book private.
Ride the Route You Chose
One, 1.5, two or three hours depending on the operator, on either city or all-terrain Segway X2 machines.
Stop Where You Want
The photo stops on a private tour are the ones your group asks for. Guides will also adjust the route around a closed park or a tired child.

Private Tours
Private Segway Tours in Madrid Cost Less Than They Should
Four private routes, and the cheapest starts a dollar below the shared Retiro loop.
In most European cities a private tour is the expensive option — two to three times the shared price, and worth it only for a group large enough to dilute the premium. Madrid’s Segway market does not work like that. The cheapest private Segway tour in the city starts at $34, which is below the price of several shared routes, and the most reviewed private option starts a single dollar above the shared Retiro loop.
What you are actually buying
Three things, in descending order of how much they matter.
Training that ends when you are ready. On a shared departure the briefing finishes when the group is ready to move, which on a busy afternoon can mean eight minutes. On a private tour it finishes when you are steady. For a nervous rider, an older rider, or a family with a ten-year-old, this is the whole argument.
A pace nobody else sets. A shared Segway tour moves at the speed of its least confident rider, and stops where the itinerary says. A private one stops where you ask.
Route flexibility when something closes. Madrid City Council shuts Retiro at short notice in high wind. Private operators reroute rather than cancel, and they can do it around what your group wants to see.
What you are not buying is a different machine or a different guide — the equipment and the guiding are the same. If price is the only consideration, the shared routes on the best tours page are honest value.
The four private routes
Private Retiro Park Segway Tour — $40, 1 / 1.5 / 2 hours. The most flexible of the four. You choose the duration at booking, it runs on all-terrain Segway X2s that handle Retiro’s unpaved garden paths better than city machines, and guiding is available in Spanish, English or French. Weight window 35 to 125 kg, minimum age 10.
Private Segway tour: Retiro Park and Centro Histórico — $40, 1 to 3 hours. The most reviewed private tour in Madrid, at 717 reviews and 4.8/5, and the only one that sells both the park and the old city privately on one ride. Hourly departures from 10:00 to 20:00.
Madrid Río Park Private Segway Tour — $34, 2 hours. The cheapest private Segway tour in Madrid, riding the linear park along the Manzanares. One caveat worth knowing: the operator states training happens within the tour time, so your first minutes on the machine come out of the two hours.
Private Off-Road Segway Tour of Casa de Campo — $69, 2 hours. The most expensive Segway tour in the city and the only genuinely off-road one. It crosses the Manzanares at the Puente del Rey into Casa de Campo — 1,722 hectares of former royal hunting ground, the largest urban park in Spain — and rides unsurfaced tracks on all-terrain X2s.
Couples, families and small groups
For two people, the private premium over a shared tour is close to nothing on the Retiro and river routes, which makes the decision easy. For a family with children at the age limit, private is the stronger booking regardless of price: a ten-year-old learning to balance on a Segway benefits from a guide who is not also managing six strangers.
For a birthday or a stag group, note that the Madrid Segway operator explicitly runs private departures for birthday parties, bachelor parties and communions, and takes corporate bookings — worth asking about directly if your group is larger than a standard private booking allows.
Age, weight and the limits that catch people out
Every private operator here sets a minimum age of ten, with riders aged 10 to 17 accompanied by an adult. SEGCITYTOURS, which runs three of the four, also sets a minimum weight of 35 kg — the machine needs load to balance properly — and a ceiling of 120 to 125 kg depending on the route. None of them is suitable during pregnancy, or for riders with back problems or mobility impairments.
If a child in your group is nine, only Madrid Segway’s shared Retiro, downtown and river routes will take them. The full comparison is on the family page.
Check availability for your dates — private slots go first on weekends, and nothing is charged today.

Private Madrid Segway Tour FAQs
What private buys, what it costs, and the limits that still apply.
From $34. The private Madrid Río tour is the cheapest at $34 for two hours; the private Retiro tours are around $40; the off-road Casa de Campo tour is $69. The premium over a shared tour in Madrid is unusually small — often a dollar or two.
In Madrid, usually yes, because the premium is so small. Training ends when you are ready rather than when the group is, the pace is yours, and the guide is watching your group rather than twelve strangers. For a nervous or older rider that is the whole argument.
The private Retiro Park and Centro Histórico tour, with 717 reviews at 4.8/5. It is also the only one that covers both the park and the old city privately on a single ride.
Yes on two of them. The private Retiro Park tour is bookable at one, 1.5 or two hours; the private Retiro and Centro Histórico tour runs from one to three hours with hourly departures from 10:00 to 20:00. The Madrid Río and Casa de Campo private tours are fixed at two hours.
The all-terrain model, with wider tyres than the standard city Segway. SEGCITYTOURS uses X2s on its private Retiro and Casa de Campo routes, which is what makes unsurfaced garden paths and park tracks rideable.
Minimum age ten, with riders aged 10 to 17 accompanied by an adult. SEGCITYTOURS requires a weight between 35 kg and 125 kg — note the minimum, which rules out slighter children. None is suitable during pregnancy, or for riders with back problems or mobility impairments.
Yes. Madrid Segway states it runs private departures for birthday parties, bachelor parties and communions, and takes corporate bookings. For groups larger than a standard private booking allows, contact the operator through the booking page.
Yes on all four, but check when it happens. On the private Madrid Río tour the operator states training happens within the tour time, so your first minutes on the machine come out of the two hours. The others train before the clock starts.
The private two-hour Casa de Campo tour. It crosses the Manzanares at the Puente del Rey and rides unsurfaced tracks inside the park — 1,722 hectares of former royal hunting ground, the largest urban park in Spain. See the green routes page.
Weekend private slots go first. The off-road Casa de Campo tour confirms bookings made within seven days of the date inside 48 hours rather than instantly, so leave more margin on that one.
Light rain does not stop them; heavy rain reschedules. Free cancellation up to 24 hours before applies to all four.
